Jay and Annie have been together for a decade and have two children, and the passion that once defined their relationship has faded into routine. Hoping to revive it, they set aside a night without the kids and record themselves attempting an ambitious marathon session inspired by a well-known sex manual. The plan works better than expected until they realise the recording has not stayed private: it has been uploaded to a shared cloud account linked to tablets they have given to friends and family. With their reputations at stake, the couple sets out to track down every copy before the video spreads further.
Jake Kasdan directed the film, which he made after Bad Teacher and before Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. The screenplay is credited to Jason Segel, Nicholas Stoller and Kate Angelo, and Segel stars opposite Cameron Diaz, with Rob Corddry, Ellie Kemper, Rob Lowe and Jolene Blalock in supporting roles. The production had a budget of 40 million US dollars and took about 126 million US dollars worldwide.
Audience scores are modest: on IMDb the film holds 5.1 out of 10 from roughly 123,000 votes, and on TMDB it has 5.4 out of 10 from more than 4,000 votes. A critics' rating of 4.1 out of 10 from 156 reviews places it below both audience figures, indicating broadly unfavourable reception across the board.
