Endless Love

Endless Love is a 2014 American romantic drama about two young people from different worlds who fall for each other one summer. Jade Butterfield comes from a wealthy family, while David Elliot is the son of a mechanic. They attend the same school in Georgia, and when they finally speak at a party, the attraction is mutual and immediate. Jade's father, a doctor, disapproves, believing David beneath his daughter and a threat to the plans he has made for her future. His efforts to keep them apart only push the couple closer, and David must confront his own past if the relationship is to survive.

Shana Feste directed the film, her third feature after The Greatest and Country Strong, and wrote the screenplay with Joshua Safran. Alex Pettyfer and Gabriella Wilde play the leads, with Bruce Greenwood as Jade's father, Joely Richardson as her mother, Rhys Wakefield as her brother and Robert Patrick as David's father. It is a remake of a 1981 film of the same name.

Made for about 20 million dollars, the film took roughly 35 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 49,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.9 out of 10 from about 1,800 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 out of 10 from 92 reviews is noticeably lower than the audience scores, which sit closer to the middle. Feste went on to direct Boundaries and Run Sweetheart Run.
