Bet on Revenge

Set against the backdrop of the Austrian Empire, this historical drama follows Ernö Blaskovich, a Hungarian aristocrat who lost his status and family after the 1848 revolution. While living a directionless life, Ernö acquires Kincsem, a legendary racehorse that becomes a sensation across Europe by winning every race it enters. Blaskovich uses the horse's success to seek revenge against Otto von Oettingen, the man responsible for his father's death and the loss of his estate. The conflict is further complicated when Ernö falls in love with Oettingen's daughter, Klara.

The film was produced in Hungary by Café Film and directed by Buda Gulyás and Gábor Herendi. For Herendi, this was the first of four films he directed, followed by Gone Running, Passionate Women, and Karácsonyra megjövök. The movie stars Ervin Nagy as Ernö Blaskovich, alongside Andrea Petrik and Tibor Gáspár. Despite a massive budget of 3 billion USD, the film earned 2 million USD at the worldwide box office. It has received generally positive audience feedback, holding a 7.2 rating on IMDb from 6,800 votes and a 6.7 rating on TMDB from 62 votes.
