Justin Bieber's Believe

Justin Bieber's Believe is a concert documentary about the pop singer at a turning point in his career. Built around his Believe tour, the film follows Bieber on stage and off, combining live performances with behind-the-scenes footage and interviews in which he discusses his music, his relationships and the pressures that come with fame. Usher, Ludacris and members of Bieber's family and team also appear. Jon M. Chu directs, returning to Bieber's story after the two worked together on an earlier concert film. Sarah Landman wrote the screenplay.

The film was released in December 2013, the sixth of thirteen features Chu has directed, arriving between G.I. Joe: Retaliation and Jem and the Holograms. Justin Bieber, Ryan Good, Usher, Pattie Mallette, Jeremy Bieber and Mike Posner are among the credited cast, which runs to 59 names. Made for about 5 million dollars, it grossed roughly 6 million worldwide, a modest return.

Reception divided sharply by audience. On IMDb, where it holds 1.6 out of 10 across some 18,000 votes, the response is overwhelmingly negative. On TMDB, by contrast, it sits at 6.9 out of 10 from a far smaller pool of 212 votes. A critics' rating of 5.1 out of 10 from 15 reviews places professional opinion between those two extremes, closer to mixed than to either the hostility or the enthusiasm the film drew from viewers.
