A peaceful farmer named Farmer sees his life destroyed when warriors known as the Krugs raid his village. They kill his son and abduct his wife, Solana. Driven by grief, Farmer sets out after the Krug army to rescue her and to take revenge. The attack is part of a larger conflict in the kingdom of Ehb, where the sorcerer Gallian moves against King Konreid. The film is based on the Dungeon Siege video game series.
Uwe Boll directed the film, the fifth of the twenty features listed for him in chronological order, arriving between BloodRayne and BloodRayne II: Deliverance. The screenplay is credited to Jason Rappaport, Doug Taylor and Dan Stroncak, and Jason Statham plays Farmer. The cast also includes Ray Liotta as Gallian, Burt Reynolds as King Konreid, Leelee Sobieski, John Rhys-Davies and Matthew Lillard, with 21 credited cast members and 74 credited crew members.
Produced across Germany, Canada and the United States, the film had a budget of 60 million US dollars and returned 13 million US dollars worldwide, a substantial shortfall. Reception was weak on both sides: it holds a film critics' rating of 2.7 out of 10 from 51 reviews, and on IMDb and on TMDB audiences rated it similarly low, with the TMDB figure standing at 4.8 out of 10 from 960 votes.
