In Marseille, a gang of thieves dressed as Santa Claus carries out a series of robberies with the police always one step behind. Commissioner Gibert, distracted by a journalist preparing a story on his squad, sees his investigation stall while Émilien grows convinced Santa Clauses are everywhere and his wife Petra loses patience with him. Émilien turns to his friend Daniel, the city's fastest taxi driver, whose latest modifications to his car have exasperated his girlfriend Lilly. The trail leads the pair from Marseille to the ski slopes of Tignes as the gang attempts to escape across the Alps.
Taxi 3 is the third entry in the action-comedy series, released in 2003 and directed by Gérard Krawczyk, who had already helmed Taxi 2 and Wasabi and would go on to make Taxi 4. Luc Besson wrote the screenplay and produced through EuropaCorp, with Canal+ and TF1 Films Production among the companies behind it. Samy Naceri and Frédéric Diefenthal return as Daniel and Émilien, alongside Bernard Farcy, Emma Wiklund and Marion Cotillard, with Bai Ling joining the cast. The production cost around 15 million dollars and took roughly 64 million worldwide.
On IMDb, the film holds a rating of 5.8 from about 49,000 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 5.8, from roughly 1,700 votes, indicating a modest reception from audiences nearly two decades after its release.
