Masked and Anonymous

Masked and Anonymous takes place in a country torn apart by civil war and unrest, where a charity concert is being organised as a gesture toward peace. The man behind it, Uncle Sweetheart, is a promoter with his own interests at heart, and he arranges for the headliner to be released from prison: Jack Fate, a veteran musician who has spent time behind bars. As Fate travels toward the venue, he crosses paths with a range of unusual characters, while a journalist, Tom Friend, looks into the event and where its proceeds are actually going.

Larry Charles directed the film, his first feature, working from a screenplay he wrote with Bob Dylan. Dylan plays Jack Fate, and the cast includes Jeff Bridges, Penélope Cruz, John Goodman, Jessica Lange and Luke Wilson, among 44 credited performers. The film is a drama with music at its centre, made in the United Kingdom and the United States.
