Short description
Emmanuelle, a svelte, naive young woman, is en route to Bangkok where she'll join her new husband. He works for the French Embassy and has a lovely home, several dedicated servants, and an expensive car at his disposal. Once Emmanuelle arrives, her husband and a few friends introduce her to a realm of sexual ecstasy she'd never imagined.
What's left behind the scenes
- At a cinema on the Champs-Élysées in Paris, the film was shown without interruption from 1974 to 1985.
- Thai authorities refused permission to film due to the erotic nature of the film, forcing its creators to resort to a trick. They presented the authorities with an initial version of the script that the filmmakers had no intention of shooting.
- The film spawned numerous sequels and spin-offs, the most famous of which are the Italian films about Black Emmanuelle (one 'm' was removed from the heroine's name to avoid claims from the creators of Emmanuelle).
