Romain Faubert, approaching forty, works as a photographer for an online medical dictionary. He is single, has no children, and lives with an overwhelming fear of illness: he constantly discovers symptoms of serious diseases he does not actually have. His only friend is Dr. Dimitri Zvenka, who has been treating him for years and is growing tired of his endless complaints. Hoping to cure Romain of his hypochondria, Dimitri tries to find him a partner, taking him to parties and signing him up for dating services, but the search brings no success.
Dimitri then takes Romain along on a humanitarian mission at a reception centre for political refugees from Cherkistan, a fictional Eastern European country. There Romain is mistaken for Anton Miroslav, a resistance fighter, and meets Anna, Dimitri's sister. The events that follow pull him into a role far removed from his cautious everyday life.
Dany Boon directed, wrote and stars in this French-Belgian comedy, which followed his earlier films Welcome to the Sticks and Nothing to Declare, and was released in 2014. Kad Merad plays Dimitri, with Alice Pol as Anna and Jean-Yves Berteloot as Anton Miroslav. The film holds a 6/10 rating on IMDb from around 9,800 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.5/10 from about 1,100 votes, a modest reception for a broad mainstream comedy.
