God's Not Dead

God's Not Dead centers on Josh Wheaton, a devout Christian starting his first year at college. In his philosophy course, Professor Radisson requires students to sign a declaration accepting that God does not exist, or they will not pass. Josh alone refuses. Instead, the professor challenges him to argue for God's existence in a series of debates before the class, whose verdict will decide his grade and his standing in the course. The intellectual contest between the two runs alongside the lives of other characters, including a minister and a businessman.

Harold Cronk directed the film from a screenplay by Cary Solomon. It was the first feature Cronk directed in a run that continued with a sequel two years later, followed by later films in 2018 and 2024. Kevin Sorbo plays Professor Radisson and Shane Harper plays Josh Wheaton, with David A.R. White, Dean Cain, Cassidy Gifford and Marco Khan also in the cast of 52 credited performers.

Released in March 2014, the drama was made for 17 million dollars and took in about 30 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 4.6 from more than 44,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller pool of under a thousand. A critics' rating of 3.3 from 25 reviews places professional assessment well below the audience scores.
