Spy Smasher

Before the United States entered World War II, a masked crimefighter known as Spy Smasher takes on Nazi agents working inside the country. The operatives answer to a treacherous sabotage chief called The Mask, who directs a campaign of destruction across America. Alan Armstrong, who leads a double life as Spy Smasher alongside his brother Jack, becomes the central obstacle to that campaign, aided by Eve Corby and her father, Admiral Corby, while facing enemies including the saboteur Drake and Captain Pierre Durand.

The film is a Republic Pictures serial directed by William Witney, running 215 minutes across its chapters. It followed his work on SOS Coast Guard, Adventures of Captain Marvel and Jungle Girl, and it came well before Juvenile Jungle. The screenplay was written by Joseph F. Poland, Ronald Davidson and Joseph O'Donnell, with William J. O'Sullivan producing. Kane Richmond plays both Armstrong brothers, with Marguerite Chapman, Sam Flint, Hans Schumm, Tristram Coffin and Franco Corsaro in supporting roles.

On IMDb the serial holds a rating of 6.9 from 456 votes, a solid showing for a wartime adventure serial of its era.
