As Above, So Below

A group of explorers descends into the vast network of catacombs beneath Paris, a labyrinth of bones stretching for hundreds of kilometres under the city. Led by archaeology student Scarlett, the team is searching for something hidden in the uncharted passages below. What they find instead is that the underground realm holds dark forces, and the deeper they go, the more the journey turns against them. Personal demons from their own pasts surface alongside whatever waits in the dark, and the expedition becomes a struggle to find a way out.

Released in 2014, the film was directed by John Erick Dowdle, who wrote the screenplay with Drew Dowdle. It is the fourth feature he directed, following The Poughkeepsie Tapes, Quarantine and Devil, and preceding No Escape. The cast includes Perdita Weeks as Scarlett, Ben Feldman as George, Edwin Hodge as Benji, François Civil as Papillon, Marion Lambert as Souxie and Ali Marhyar as Zed, with a credited crew of 107. Shot as a co-production between the United States and France, it had a budget of 5 million US dollars and took about 42 million US dollars worldwide, a strong return relative to its cost.

On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from roughly 129,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.8 out of 10 from a much smaller base of about 4,000 votes. A critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 78 reviews places it clearly below both audience scores.
