That Old Feeling

Lilly Leonard, a movie star, and Dan De Mora, a columnist, divorced years ago and have barely spoken since. When their daughter Molly decides to marry Keith, a young man with political ambitions, the estranged parents come together for the wedding reception. Old resentments surface, then give way to a renewed attraction, and the two slip away together. Their disappearance embarrasses Keith, who fears a scandal, while Lilly's ever-present photographer pursues the couple and Molly is left to sort out her own feelings about the man she has just married.

Bette Midler and Dennis Farina play the former spouses, with Paula Marshall as Molly, Gail O'Grady as Dan's current wife Rowena, David Rasche as Alan and Danny Nucci as the photographer Joey. The film was directed by Carl Reiner, the tenth feature in the filmography that began with Oh, God! in 1977 and includes The Jerk, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and All of Me. Leslie Dixon wrote the screenplay and produced with Bonnie Bruckheimer; Universal Pictures released the film on April 4, 1997, and it runs 105 minutes.
