Untamed Heart

Caroline works as a waitress in Minneapolis and has had little luck with men. Adam, the quiet busboy at the same restaurant, is drawn to her but is too shy to say anything. One winter night, when Caroline is attacked on her way home from work, Adam appears and fights the men off. A relationship slowly develops between them, though not everyone around them is pleased, and Caroline eventually learns that Adam carries a secret about his health.

Tony Bill directed the film, his fifth feature after My Bodyguard, Five Corners, Crazy People and before A Home of Our Own and Flyboys. Tom Sierchio wrote the screenplay, and Bill produced with Helen Buck Bartlett. Christian Slater plays Adam and Marisa Tomei plays Caroline, with Rosie Perez, Kyle Secor, Willie Garson and Gary Groomes among the credited cast of 37.

Released in February 1993 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film runs 102 minutes and mixes comedy, drama and romance. It took in about 19 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.8 out of 10 from roughly 17,000 votes, and on TMDB it also holds 6.8 out of 10, from far fewer votes. A critics' rating of 5.8 out of 10 from 25 reviews places it below both audience scores.
