Perfect Obedience

Perfect Obedience is a Mexican drama that follows Julián, a thirteen-year-old boy who leaves his family to attend a strict seminary. There, he is chosen as a personal disciple by Father Ángel de la Cruz, who renames him Sacramento Santos and installs him in his private residence. Under the guise of teaching the boy about absolute obedience and spiritual growth, the priest subjects him to abuse. The story explores the boy's experience within the institution and his later efforts to confront his former mentor after leaving the order. The character of Father Ángel is based on Marcial Maciel, the founder of the Legion of Christ.

Directed by Luis Urquiza, who also co-wrote the screenplay and produced the film, the movie features Juan Manuel Bernal as Father Ángel and Sebastián Aguirre as the young Julián. Alfonso Herrera portrays the adult version of the character. The film earned 2 million USD at the worldwide box office. It has received generally positive responses from viewers, holding a 6.4 rating on IMDb based on 1,200 votes and a 6.5 rating on TMDB from 55 votes.
