Trees Lounge

Tommy has lost his job as a car mechanic, his girlfriend has left him for his former best friend and boss, and he spends much of his time drinking at the Trees Lounge, a bar on Long Island where the regulars have little else going on. When his uncle Al dies, Tommy takes over the man's ice cream truck and begins driving it around the neighbourhood. Before long he becomes involved with Debbie, his young assistant on the truck, and that involvement brings him into conflict with her father.

Trees Lounge is a comedy-drama released in 1996 and the first feature Steve Buscemi directed, ahead of Animal Factory, Interview, a concert film and The Listener. Buscemi also wrote the screenplay and plays Tommy, with Chloë Sevigny as Debbie and Carol Kane, Mark Boone Junior, Bronson Dudley and Anthony LaPaglia among the cast of 28 credited performers.

The film was made for about a million dollars and runs 95 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7.1 from around 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from far fewer votes, indicating a smaller sample there. A critics' rating of 6.9 from 26 reviews is close to both audience scores, so reviewers and viewers have tended to judge it similarly.
