The Chronicles of Riddick

The Chronicles of Riddick continues the story of Richard B. Riddick, the escaped convict introduced in Pitch Black. Having spent five years evading bounty hunters across the galaxy, Riddick is drawn to the planet Helion, home to a progressive multicultural society that has fallen under the control of Lord Marshal, a zealot leading an army of Necromongers. As this force spreads from world to world, offering conquest or death, Riddick is caught between the invaders and those who oppose them, and his path crosses again with Kyra, a woman from his earlier life. David Twohy wrote and directed the film, his fifth feature and a direct follow-up to his own Pitch Black.

Vin Diesel returns in the title role and also produced alongside Scott Kroopf. The cast includes Colm Feore as Lord Marshal, Karl Urban as Vaako, Thandiwe Newton as Dame Vaako, Alexa Davalos as Kyra and Judi Dench as Aereon. The production was large by the standards of the series, with a budget of 105 million US dollars, and it took about 116 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb, the film holds 6.6 out of 10 from around 251,000 votes, while on TMDB it also sits at 6.6 out of 10, from roughly 4,647 votes. A film critics' rating of 4.8 out of 10 from 164 reviews places it below both audience scores. Twohy returned to the character again with Riddick in 2013.
