Blood Feast

Blood Feast is a 1963 American horror film about Fuad Ramses, an Egyptian immigrant running a catering business in a Miami suburb. Behind that ordinary front, he murders young women and takes parts of their bodies, intending to use them in a ritual meant to bring the goddess Ishtar back to life. When he is hired to cater a party for a wealthy family's daughter, Suzette Fremont, the event becomes the setting for further killings, while a police detective follows the trail of the missing women.

The film was directed by Herschell Gordon Lewis from a screenplay by Allison Louise Downe, and produced by David F. Friedman with Lewis and Stanford S. Kohlberg through Friedman-Lewis Productions. Mal Arnold plays Fuad Ramses, with William Kerwin as Detective Pete Thornton, Connie Mason as Suzette Fremont, Lyn Bolton as Dorothy Freemont, Scott H. Hall as Police Captain Frank and Christy Foushee as Trudy Sanders. It runs 67 minutes.

Released in July 1963, the film was made on a very small budget yet took about 4 million dollars worldwide, a large return for its time. On IMDb it holds 5 out of 10 from roughly 7,900 votes, on TMDB 4.8 out of 10 from about 204 votes, and critics gave it 4 out of 10 across 12 reviews, so audiences and critics alike regard it as a cheap, graphic curiosity rather than a polished work.
