Kicking and Screaming

Grover has just finished college, and his girlfriend Jane announces she is leaving for Prague to study writing. He chooses not to go with her and instead moves in with a group of friends who are lingering near the campus, unwilling or unable to begin adult life. None of them wants to make a decision that would change everything, and none wants to become Chet, a bartender still working on his degree in his tenth year of university. Over the months that follow, the group drifts through conversations, parties and romantic entanglements while Grover adjusts to life without Jane.

Kicking and Screaming is a 1995 American comedy-drama written and directed by Noah Baumbach, the first of the fourteen features he has directed to date, followed by Mr. Jealousy in 1998. Joel Kastelberg produced, and the ensemble cast is led by Josh Hamilton as Grover, Olivia d'Abo as Jane, Chris Eigeman as Max, Parker Posey as Miami, Jason Wiles as Skippy and Cara Buono as Kate, among 38 credited performers.

Released in October 1995 and running 96 minutes, the film received modest scores from critics, averaging 5.6 out of 10 across 36 reviews. On IMDb it holds 6.6 out of 10 from around 16,000 votes, while on TMDB it has 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 250 votes.
