Short description
The Fool is a movie about a simple plumber. An honest man, he is up against an entire system of corrupted bureaucrats. At stake are the lives of 800 inhabitants of an old dorm that is at risk of collapsing within the span of the night.
What's left behind the scenes
- The film was shot in Tula and Moscow. To film the crumbling building, a real dormitory on the outskirts of Tula was found. The cracks crawling up the wall were created by artists. The set measured eight meters wide and three meters high, with the rest added via computer graphics. Inside the rooms across four floors, the cracks were real; they were created by the film crew with the consent of the residents (after filming ended, a minor renovation was carried out at the creators' expense). The family scenes in Nikitin's house were filmed in an ordinary Moscow apartment in Kuzminki. During filming, the apartment owners remained in the adjacent room.
- The film is dedicated to the memory of director Aleksei Balabanov.
