Barbie and the Secret Door

Barbie and the Secret Door is an animated family musical in which Barbie takes on the role of Alexa, a shy princess who would rather read books and listen to birdsong than carry out her royal duties. When she finds a hidden door in the royal garden, she steps through into an enchanted land filled with magical creatures and surprises.

There she meets Romy, a mermaid, and Nori, a fairy, who tell her about Malucia, a spoiled young ruler who is seizing all the magic of the land for herself and stripping her subjects of their rights. Alexa discovers that she has powers of her own in this world, and her new friends believe she is the one who can stand up for what is right and restore harmony. The film is directed by Karen J. Lloyd, who made her directorial debut with it in 2014 and went on to direct Barbie in Rock 'N Royals and later Barbie & Teresa: Recipe for Friendship. Kelly Sheridan voices Alexa, with Brittany McDonald providing her singing voice, and Ashleigh Ball, Chanelle Peloso and Tabitha St. Germain among the twenty-strong credited cast.

It was released in 2014 and runs 81 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.8 from around 2,600 votes, while on TMDB it has a rating of 7.2 from 444 votes, indicating that the smaller audience there responds more warmly than the broader one on IMDb.
