Bokeh is a 2017 drama with science fiction and thriller elements, directed by Geoffrey Orthwein and Andrew Sullivan, who also wrote the screenplay together. Jenai and Riley, a young American couple played by Maika Monroe and Matt O'Leary, are on a romantic trip to Iceland. One morning they wake to find that every other person on Earth has vanished. Isolated in a foreign country, they must find ways to survive while trying to make sense of what happened, a search that pushes them to rethink what they understand about themselves and the world around them. Arnar Jónsson, Gunnar Helgason and Berglind Rós Sigurôardóttir appear in supporting roles.
The film was released on March 24, 2017, and runs 104 minutes. It is a co-production between Iceland and the United States, made by Vintage Pictures, Kansha Films and Zealous Pictures. It was the first feature directed by Orthwein and Sullivan, who had previously worked together as a writing and directing pair.
Reception was mixed. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5 out of 10 from around 8,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.4 out of 10 from roughly 275 votes. A critics' rating of 5 out of 10 from 21 reviews places it in similar territory to the audience scores, suggesting a modest response across the board rather than a sharp divide between reviewers and viewers.
