Tracers follows Cam, a New York City bicycle messenger whose life is complicated by a mounting debt to organized crime. After a collision with a young woman named Nikki, he is drawn into her circle of friends, who practise parkour and free running across the city's rooftops and streets. Nikki teaches him their techniques, and he discovers a talent for the discipline. He also learns that the group uses those skills for criminal jobs, and he joins them in the hope of earning enough to settle what he owes. As the thefts grow more dangerous and the crew's motives become murkier, Cam finds himself caught between his pursuers and a world he does not fully understand.
The film was directed by Daniel Benmayor, the second of the four features he has made to date, following Paintball in 2009. Matt Johnson wrote the screenplay, and Wyck Godfrey, Marty Bowen and D. Scott Lumpkin produced. Taylor Lautner plays Cam, with Marie Avgeropoulos as Nikki, Adam Rayner as the gang leader Miller, and Rafi Gavron, Sam Medina and Luciano Acuna Jr. among the supporting cast.
Released in 2015, the film runs 94 minutes and was made for about 11 million dollars, against a worldwide box office of roughly 3 million. Audiences are divided: it holds a rating of 5.6 on IMDb from around 21,000 votes and 6 out of 10 on TMDB from about 1,100 votes, while critics' reviews average 4.6 out of 10 across 28 reviews.
