Close Range Love

A high school student who excels in most of her subjects struggles specifically with English. To help her prepare for exams and reach her goal of attending university in California, her substitute teacher provides her with daily individual tutoring. Despite an initial lack of rapport between the two, the student eventually develops romantic feelings for her instructor.

This 2014 Japanese romantic drama was directed by Naoto Kumazawa, marking his second feature following the 1996 film Yen Town. The movie features Tomohisa Yamashita as the teacher Haruka Sakurai and Nana Komatsu as the student Yuni Kururugi, with a supporting cast that includes Asami Mizukawa, Nozomu Kotaki, Mizuki Yamamoto, and Hirofumi Arai.
