Bunraku

Bunraku is set in an alternate future where firearms have been abolished and disputes are settled with blades and fists. A drifter with a score to settle arrives in a town held under the thumb of Nicola, a crime boss whose gang, led by nine killers, keeps the population in fear. The drifter joins forces with Yoshi, a young Japanese warrior, and the bartender of the local saloon, who has long wanted to see Nicola brought down.

Guy Moshe directed and wrote the screenplay, with Nava Levin, Keith Calder and Ram Bergman producing. Josh Hartnett plays the drifter, Gackt Camui plays Yoshi, Woody Harrelson plays the bartender, and Ron Perlman plays Nicola, with Demi Moore as Alexandra. The film blends Western, samurai, comic-book and video-game elements into a stylized revenge story, and counts around sixty credited cast members and two hundred thirty credited crew.

Made for about 25 million USD across Romanian and American productions, the film is the first that Moshe directed, followed by The Fix in 2026. It has a rating of 5.8 out of 10 on TMDB from 366 votes, and a critics' rating of 4.2 out of 10 from 22 reviews, so the critical response sits below the audience score. At 125 minutes, it is an action drama with thriller elements.
