An American Tail: The Treasure of Manhattan Island

Fievel Mousekewitz and his friend Tony Toponi come across a map that appears to lead to treasure hidden beneath New York City during the immigrant era. Their search takes them below the streets, where they encounter a community of Native American mice who retreated underground after European settlers arrived. The discovery turns out to matter more than any gold the map promised.

This is the third film in the An American Tail series and the first of two that Larry Latham directed, followed in 1999 by An American Tail: The Mystery of the Night Monster. Latham also produced, working from a screenplay by Len Uhley. Thomas Dekker voices Fievel, with Lacey Chabert as his sister Tanya, Nehemiah Persoff and Erica Yohn as Papa and Mama Mousekewitz, Dom DeLuise returning as the cat Tiger, and Elaine Bilstad as Cholena. Universal Pictures and Universal Cartoon Studios produced the 78-minute animated adventure.

On IMDb the film holds a rating of 5.6 from roughly 2,300 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.3 from close to 200 votes. Both figures suggest a modest, mixed response rather than strong enthusiasm, with the two audiences broadly in agreement and the smaller TMDB sample slightly more favorable.
