Cutter's Way

Alex Cutter is a cynical Vietnam veteran who suffered the loss of an arm, a leg, and an eye during the war. Struggling with alcoholism and anger, he finds a new purpose when his friend Richard Bone is accused of murder. After Bone believes he witnessed a wealthy businessman dispose of a body, Cutter decides to track down the real killer. Rather than involving the police, Cutter attempts to use the situation to blackmail the suspect, leading to a dangerous conflict between the men.

Directed by Ivan Passer, this was the first of four films he directed, followed by Stalin, While Justice Sleeps, and Nomad: The Warrior. The movie stars John Heard as Cutter and Jeff Bridges as Bone, with a supporting cast that includes Lisa Eichhorn and Stephen Elliott. Produced by Paul R. Gurian and written by Jeffrey Alan Fiskin, the film was a United States production by United Artists and Gurian Entertainment.

Financially, the film did not recoup its costs, earning 2 million USD against a budget of 3 million USD. It has received generally positive feedback from viewers, holding a 6.8 rating on IMDb from 8,700 votes and a 6.5 rating on TMDB from 187 votes.
