Short description
Rose is taken in by the Hillyer family to serve as a 1930s housemaid so that she can avoid falling into a life of prostitution. Her appearence and personality is such that all men fall for her, and she knows it. She can't help herself from getting into trouble with men.
What's left behind the scenes
- The Oscar nominations for Laura Dern and Diane Ladd marked the first time in history that a mother and daughter who starred in the same film had received such an honor.
- Some scenes in the film (Buddy's memories of his youth) were shot in sepia tone.
- Initially, Renny Harlin wanted to direct the film, but Martha Coolidge had already done so much for the project that she became the director, while Harlin became the producer, although he was constantly present on set.
