Teen Beach 2 continues the story begun in Teen Beach Movie. Brady and Mack have returned to their everyday lives, where school is back in session and their relationship is under strain. Their routine is interrupted when characters from the musical Wet Side Story, including Lela and Tanner, unexpectedly cross over into the real world. Since the film world and reality cannot easily coexist, the two teenagers have to work out how to send their visitors back before the situation becomes permanent.
Jeffrey Hornaday directed the film, his third feature after Geek Charming and Teen Beach Movie, working from a screenplay by Robert Horn, Vince Marcello and Mark Landry. Ross Lynch and Maia Mitchell reprise their roles as Brady and Mack, with Gracie Gillam, Garrett Clayton, John DeLuca and Chrissie Fit returning as the film-within-a-film characters, among a credited cast of 28.
The musical comedy was released in June 2015 and runs 104 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from roughly 5,900 votes, while on TMDB it rates 6.8 from a much smaller base of about 600 votes. The two audiences differ somewhat: the smaller TMDB group scores it noticeably higher than the larger IMDb group does.
