Short description
Travis Parker, a veterinarian in the coastal town of Beaufort, is content with his life as a bachelor, filling his days with work, friends and outdoor pursuits. That changes when Gabby Holland, a medical student, moves into the house next door. Though she is involved with a colleague, Ryan McCarthy, an attraction develops between the two neighbours, drawing Travis toward the kind of committed relationship he had always avoided.
The film is a drama adapted from Nicholas Sparks's novel of the same name and produced in part by his production company. Ross Katz directed it, following Taking Chance and Adult Beginners, from a screenplay by Bryan Sipe. Benjamin Walker plays Travis and Teresa Palmer plays Gabby, with Maggie Grace, Alexandra Daddario, Tom Welling and Brett Rice among the credited cast of 33.
Made for a modest budget of 10 million dollars, the film returned 24 million dollars worldwide, a solid multiple of its cost. On TMDB it holds a rating of 7.2 out of 10 from just under two thousand votes, indicating a warm response from viewers who sought it out. It runs 111 minutes.

- While studying, Gabby asks the dog, 'Do you know how much blood, on average, passes through the human circulatory system per day?' and answers herself, 'Correct, twenty liters.'
