Tidal Wave

Tidal Wave is an action drama set in the tourist destination of Haeundae in Busan. The story follows several people, including a fisherman burdened by past guilt, a rescue worker in love with a wealthy woman, and a scientist attempting to reunite with his estranged wife and daughter. As seismic activity increases, the scientist warns authorities of a massive tsunami heading toward the coast. When the disaster strikes, the residents and visitors are left with only ten minutes to escape the incoming water.

The film was directed by JK Youn, who previously directed Sex Is Zero in 2002 and later directed Ode to My Father in 2014. The screenplay was written by Youn and Kim Hwi. The main cast features Sul Kyung-gu, Ha Ji-won, Park Joong-hoon, Uhm Jung-hwa, Lee Min-ki, and Ye-won Kang.

Produced by CJ Entertainment, Polygon Entertainment, and JK Film, the movie had a budget of 16 million USD and earned 75 million USD at the worldwide box office. On IMDb, the film has a rating of 5.5/10 based on 5,700 votes, while on TMDB it holds a higher score of 6.9/10 from 510 votes.
