Vasanthi is a married woman in her mid-thirties who has spent years putting her husband and daughter ahead of her own ambitions. Those around her treat her dedication as unremarkable, and she is dismissed as uninteresting and behind the times. After a series of humiliating experiences, she takes up something entirely new to her, a pursuit that lets her recover a sense of who she is and win back the respect of her family and people around her. The story is a drama about family life and personal reinvention, and it runs just under two and a half hours.
The film is a Tamil-language Indian production from 2D Entertainment, produced by Suriya, with Rosshan Andrrews directing from a screenplay by Sanjay and Bobby. Jyothika plays Vasanthi, and the cast includes Rahman as her husband Thamizhselvan, Abhirami as Susan David, Amritha Anilkumar as her daughter Mithila, Nassar and Delhi Ganesh. It was Andrrews's second film as director, following Mumbai Police in 2013, and preceded Prathi Poovankozhi and Deva.
Roughly 1,100 IMDb users have rated the film, averaging 6.9 out of 10, while the much smaller group of 23 voters on TMDB gives it 6.7. Both figures point to a generally favourable response, with the larger sample somewhat higher than the smaller one.
