Four friends attempt to prevent their local pub from closing by writing a provocative romance novel. The book becomes a success, but the publisher requires a female author to handle the public relations. To keep their identity hidden, the men hire an unemployed actress to pose as the writer. As she gains fame and lands the lead role in a film adaptation of the book, the power dynamic shifts, leaving the men obligated to continue writing erotic novels in secret.
