Colossal

Gloria, a heavy-drinking New Yorker, loses her job and her boyfriend and returns to her small hometown to start over. Not long afterwards, news reports describe a giant creature devastating Seoul. Gloria gradually comes to understand that her own mind is tied to the monster and its attacks, and that what happens to her in her hometown has consequences thousands of miles away. She sets out to work out why someone leading such an unremarkable life could affect the fate of the world, and how to stop the destruction from continuing. Anne Hathaway plays Gloria, with Jason Sudeikis as Oscar, Austin Stowell, Tim Blake Nelson, Dan Stevens and Hannah Cheramy in supporting roles.

Nacho Vigalondo wrote and directed the film, the fifth in the directing career that began with Timecrimes in 2007 and continued through the anthology segments, Open Windows and, later, Daniela Forever. It was produced by Nicolas Chartier, Nahikari Ipiña and Zev Foreman as a co-production between Spain, Canada, the United States and Korea, on a budget of about 15 million dollars. It earned roughly 3 million dollars worldwide.

On IMDb the film holds 6.2 out of 10 from around 74,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.3 out of 10 from over 2,300 votes. A critics' rating of 7.2 out of 10 from 263 reviews places it noticeably higher than those audience scores.
