Too Late is a crime drama centered on Mel Sampson, a private investigator hired to track down a woman who has disappeared and who is tied to his own past. The search draws him through a version of Los Angeles that ranges from the emptied brush of Radiotown to the penthouses of Beverly Hills, and into contact with an assortment of eccentric figures and lost souls. What begins as a missing-person case becomes just as much a portrait of the man doing the looking.
Dennis Hauck wrote and directed the film, which was produced by Alexandra Barreto, Hauck and John Taylor Feltner through Foe Killer Films. John Hawkes leads the cast as Sampson, alongside Vail Bloom, Joanna Cassidy, Jeff Fahey, Robert Forster and Brett Jacobsen, among a credited cast of twenty-five. The film runs 108 minutes and was released on March 25, 2016.
Audience responses to the film are moderate but positive: it holds a 6.7/10 rating on IMDb from roughly 4,200 votes and a 6.8/10 on TMDB from a much smaller pool of 99 votes. A film critics' rating of 5.7/10 from 34 reviews places professional assessment somewhat below the audience scores.
