Halla leads a quiet life as a choir conductor in Iceland, but behind that routine she carries on a secret campaign against the country's aluminium industry, whose plants she believes are damaging the highlands she loves. Her sabotage actions target the industry and the dealings between the government and an international investor. Just as she plans her most daring act, word arrives that a long-pending adoption application has been approved, and a young orphan girl enters her life.
The film is a comedy-drama-thriller directed by Benedikt Erlingsson, who wrote the screenplay with Ólafur Egill Egilsson. It is his second feature, following The Nail from 2008. Halldóra Geirharðsdóttir plays the lead in a dual role, with Jóhann Sigurjónsson and musician Davíð Þór Jónsson among the cast. It was produced by Marianne Slot, Benedikt Erlingsson and Carine Leblanc, and is a co-production involving Iceland, France and Ukraine.
Released in 2018 and running 101 minutes, the film drew a critics' rating of 7.8/10 from 119 reviews. Audiences rate it slightly lower, at 7.4/10 on IMDb from around 12,000 votes and 7.2/10 on TMDB from 445 votes. The narrower gap between the two audience scores and the critics' figure suggests a film that satisfied both groups without dividing them.
