Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang

Set during the Second World War, this family fantasy centers on Isabel Green, a young mother struggling to keep a farm running while her husband is away fighting. Her three children clash with two spoiled cousins sent from London, and the household is further strained by debt and pressure to sell the property. Nanny McPhee arrives at the door and uses magic to bring the warring children together, employing such means as a flying motorcycle, a statue that comes to life and a tree-climbing piglet. Emma Thompson plays Nanny McPhee and wrote the screenplay; Maggie Gyllenhaal plays Isabel. The cast also includes Asa Butterfield, Oscar Steer, Rosie Taylor-Ritson and Eros Vlahos.
