Nina is a successful art dealer who looks forward to a regular appointment with her usual masseur, Douglas. When Douglas sends someone else in his place, a man named Fitch, Nina is initially wary of the stranger in her home. Over the course of the session the two fall into easy conversation, trading stories about past relationships while Fitch explains the techniques he uses, including methods attributed to Hopi healers. Their personalities and ways of life differ sharply, and small frictions arise, yet the talks leave each of them reconsidering what the other has to offer.
