Dan Sanders moves his family from the city to a remote stretch of Oregon woodland so he can oversee a housing development there. His employer, Neal Lyman, expects results, while Dan's wife Tammy takes to the quiet surroundings and their son Tyler wants nothing to do with any of it. What Dan does not count on is the local wildlife, which treats his construction plans as a threat to its home and sets out to drive him away through a campaign of escalating pranks and sabotage.
Roger Kumble directed the film, his sixth feature after Cruel Intentions, Cruel Intentions 2, The Sweetest Thing, Just Friends and College Road Trip. Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert wrote the screenplay, and Robert Simonds and Keith Goldberg produced. Brendan Fraser plays Dan, with Brooke Shields as Tammy, Ken Jeong as Neal Lyman, Matt Prokop as Tyler, Angela Kinsey as Felder and Skyler Samuels as Amber.
Made for about 35 million dollars, the film took in roughly 36 million worldwide, a return that leaves little room for profit. On IMDb it holds a rating of 3.9 from around 19,000 votes, and on TMDB 5 out of 10 from far fewer voters, while a critics' rating of 2.8 from 96 reviews places professional opinion well below even the modest audience scores.
