All Nighter

All Nighter follows a work-obsessed father who arrives in Los Angeles on a brief layover, hoping to see his daughter, only to learn she has vanished. With no other lead, he turns to her former boyfriend, a struggling musician still reeling from the breakup, and pressures him into helping with the search. The mismatched pair spend a single night driving through the city, chasing clues and clashing over their very different temperaments, while the father's refusal to accept failure keeps them moving.

Gavin Wiesen directed the film, his second feature after The Art of Getting By (2011), from a screenplay by Seth W. Owen. J.K. Simmons plays Mr. Gallo, with Emile Hirsch as Martin, Lio Tipton as Ginnie, and supporting turns from Meta Golding, Jon Daly and Kristen Schaal. The production involved Good Deed Entertainment, Wing and a Prayer Pictures, Green Hummingbird Entertainment and Spring Pictures.

The film runs 86 minutes and was released in March 2017. On IMDb it holds a critics' rating of 4.2 out of 10 from 14 reviews, while on TMDB its audience rating stands at 5.7 out of 10 from 248 votes, a gap that suggests viewers responded more warmly than reviewers did. Wiesen later directed Spin the Bottle (2024).
