Set in the early 20th century, this drama follows Constance Chatterley, a woman married to the wealthy aristocrat Sir Clifford. After Clifford returns from war with a paralysis that leaves him unable to be intimate, the emotional distance between the couple grows. Feeling isolated and dissatisfied within her marriage, Constance begins a forbidden romantic affair with Oliver Mellors, the estate's gamekeeper. This relationship leads her to explore her own sexuality and forces her to choose between her social standing and her feelings for a man from a lower class.
The film was written and directed by Jed Mercurio, following his 2007 project Frankenstein. The production was a United Kingdom venture by Serena Cullen Productions and Hartswood Films, produced by Serena Cullen. The main cast features Holliday Grainger as Constance, Richard Madden as Oliver Mellors, and James Norton as Sir Clifford, supported by Howard Ward, Elizabeth Rider, and Tony Pritchard among a credited cast of 23. The movie has received a consistent reception from audiences, holding a rating of 6.3/10 on IMDb based on 4,400 votes and a matching 6.3/10 on TMDB from 126 votes.
