Riley's First Date?

Riley, now twelve years old, is spending time at home with her parents in San Francisco when a boy named Jordan arrives at the door. What might be an ordinary visit becomes a source of alarm for everyone involved, as Riley's parents confront the fact that their daughter is growing up and showing interest in boys for the first time. The short film centers on how both Riley and her mother and father handle this new stage, giving a look at the situation from the parents' side as well.

Josh Cooley wrote and directed this five-minute animated short for Pixar, following his earlier directorial effort George and A.J. and preceding later features in his career. Kaitlyn Dias returns as the voice of Riley, with Kyle MacLachlan and Diane Lane as her parents, Ben Cox as Jordan, and Pete Docter and Carlos Alazraqui among the voices of the parents' own Emotions. The short was produced by Mark Nielsen.

Released in 2015, the film has found a steady audience on IMDb, where it holds a 7.4 rating from roughly 12,000 votes. On TMDB it sits at 7.2 from about 1,100 votes, a comparable level of approval from a much smaller group of users.
