Joey, a young woman in a small American town, sees military service as a way out of her limited prospects. That plan is thrown into doubt when she meets Rayna, an older woman, and falls in love with her. The relationship forces Joey to weigh the future she had been working toward against the one she now wants, and both women's lives take unexpected directions. The film is a drama adapted from director Deb Shoval's 2011 short of the same name.
Shoval directed and co-wrote the screenplay with Karolina Waclawiak; Jessica Caldwell, Michel Merkt and L.A. Teodosio produced. Lola Kirke plays Joey and Breeda Wool plays Rayna, with Dale Soules, Ted Welch, Britne Oldford and Libby George among the credited cast, which numbers 75, alongside 82 credited crew members. The film runs 82 minutes and was released in May 2017.
Audience response was mixed: on IMDb it holds 5.6 out of 10 from around 1,600 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.5 out of 10 from 42 votes, a much smaller sample. A film critics' rating of 6.8 out of 10 from 15 reviews places critical reception somewhat above the audience scores.
