Short description
Set in the summer of 1957, this historical drama follows former racecar driver Enzo Ferrari during a period of personal and professional turmoil. Ferrari faces the possible bankruptcy of the company he and his wife, Laura, established a decade earlier. Their relationship is strained by the grief of losing a son and the complicated existence of another child born from an extramarital affair. To save his business, Enzo decides to risk everything by entering his team in the Mille Miglia, a dangerous thousand-mile race across Italy.

- Michael Mann had dreamed of making this film for around 30 years. According to an article dated 1993, Mann wanted to shoot this biopic with Robert De Niro in the lead role after the 1992 action drama "The Last of the Mohicans".
- Christian Bale was cast in the lead role in the film in late 2015. This would have been his first collaboration with director Michael Mann since the action film “Public Enemies” (2009), but Bale left the project, deciding he wouldn't be able to gain the necessary weight before filming began, and was replaced by Hugh Jackman, who was ultimately replaced by Adam Driver.
