Zandalee

Zandalee lives in New Orleans with her husband Thierry, a man who once wrote poetry but now spends his days running the family business he inherited. His attention has shifted entirely to work, and Zandalee has grown restless in the marriage. When Johnny Collins, an old friend of Thierry's and a painter, comes back into their lives, he awakens something in her that she had thought was gone. The two begin an affair that pulls all three of them toward a confrontation, and Thierry does not remain unaware of what is happening.

The film is a drama with romance and thriller elements, released in 1991 and running 100 minutes. Sam Pillsbury directed it from a screenplay by Mari Kornhauser, with Judge Reinhold, Kornhauser and William Blaylock producing; Reinhold also appears as Thierry. Nicolas Cage plays Johnny, Erika Anderson plays Zandalee, and the cast includes Joe Pantoliano, Viveca Lindfors and Steve Buscemi. It was Pillsbury's first theatrical feature as director, followed years later by Free Willy 3: The Rescue and Fifteen and Pregnant.

Away from the cinema, the film drew little enthusiasm. It holds a rating of 4.4 from roughly 4,500 votes on IMDb and 4.3 from about 100 votes on TMDB, while a small group of critics gave it 5.4 from six reviews. The audience scores and the critics' average sit close together, indicating a broadly similar, muted response from both.
