Ukrainian Sheriffs

In a small southern village where official police presence is scarce, two local men are appointed as sheriffs to maintain order. They spend their days handling minor disputes, settling family arguments, and investigating local incidents while acting as both law enforcement and social workers. As the seasons change, the peaceful routine of the community is disrupted when news of war and political instability reaches the village through television screens, creating division among the residents.

This documentary was directed by Roman Bondarchuk, following his 2015 project Dixieland: Little Kids Big Dreams and preceding The Editorial Office in 2024. The film is a co-production between Ukraine, Germany, and Latvia, produced by VFS Films and Taskovski Films. It features Viktor Kryvoborodko and Volodymyr Rudkovskyy appearing as themselves in their roles as sheriffs, along with Viktor Marunyak as the mayor. The movie has a runtime of 85 minutes.
