Delta of Venus

Delta of Venus is set in Paris in 1940, as war looms over Europe. Elena Martin, an American woman trying to establish herself as a writer, meets Lawrence Walters, a successful young author, amid the city's bohemian social scene. The two begin a passionate affair. When Elena discovers Lawrence with another woman, the relationship ends, leaving her alone and short of money.

Elena accepts an offer from an anonymous client to write erotic stories for a substantial fee. She draws on her own sexual experiences and fantasies for the work, gradually becoming absorbed in the world she is creating. The film follows her life in a city that continues its pleasures even as dark times approach.

Zalman King directed the film, the fourth of six features he made, following Two Moon Junction, Wild Orchid and Wild Orchid II: Two Shades of Blue. Elisa M Rothstein and Patricia Louisianna Knop wrote the screenplay, and Evzen Kolar produced. Audie England plays Elena, with Costas Mandylor as Lawrence, supported by Bernard Zette, Eric da Silva, Rory Campbell and Raven Snow. On IMDb the film holds a rating of 4.4 from 52 votes, the same figure recorded for critics across five reviews.
