All Monsters Attack

All Monsters Attack is a Japanese family fantasy film from 1969. It follows Ichiro Miki, a lonely schoolboy in the industrial district of Kawasaki whose working parents are rarely at home. Bullied by a boy nicknamed Gabara, Ichiro takes refuge in daydreams of Monster Island, where he befriends Minilla, the son of Godzilla, who faces a bully of his own. When Ichiro stumbles on two bank robbers hiding near his home, the lessons he drew from his monster friend help him stand up for himself.

The film was directed by Ishirō Honda, the twenty-second of twenty-five features he directed in chronological order, following Destroy All Monsters and preceding Terror of Mechagodzilla. Shinichi Sekizawa wrote the screenplay and Tomoyuki Tanaka produced. The cast includes Tomonori Yazaki as Ichiro, Kenji Sahara and Machiko Naka as his parents, Hideyo Amamoto as a toy consultant who looks after him, and Sachio Sakai and Kazuo Suzuki as the robbers.

Released in December 1969 and running seventy minutes, the film drew modest returns at around two million dollars worldwide. Audience scores are low, with 3.9 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 6,300 votes and 5.1 out of 10 on TMDB from about 225 votes. A critics' rating of 4.7 out of 10 from eight reviews places it only slightly below the audience scores on TMDB.
