Short description

In the quiet family town of Suburbicon during the 1950s, the best and worst of humanity is hilariously reflected through the deeds of seemingly ordinary people. When a home invasion turns deadly, a picture-perfect family turns to blackmail, revenge and murder.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The radio play heard in the children's room is an episode of the series 'Suspense' aired on August 31, 1958, titled 'The Whole Town's Asleep.' The episode is based on a story by Ray Bradbury (1920–2012), narrated by William Conrad (1920–1994), and starring Agnes Moorehead (1900–1974).
  • Josh Brolin played the role of the baseball team’s coach, but the scenes with him were cut. George Clooney later stated that the scenes with Brolin “didn’t quite work” in terms of maintaining audience tension, although he considered them the funniest.
  • The depiction of the town and its residents, as well as the interracial problems prevalent within it, are based on real events in Levittown, Pennsylvania. The television interviews shown with town residents were actually taken from interviews with the town's inhabitants for the documentary "Crisis in Levittown, Pennsylvania" (1957).
