Suburbicon

Suburbicon is a crime drama set in a 1950s American suburban town. Behind the tidy lawns and orderly family life, a home invasion shatters the household of Gardner Lodge, and the aftermath draws his family into deception, blackmail and violence. Their young son Nicky witnesses the adults around him scheme and betray one another, while the arrival of the town's first Black family stirs up hostility among the neighbours and becomes entangled with the Lodges' troubles. The film was directed by George Clooney from a screenplay he wrote with Joel and Ethan Coen, and it was produced by Clooney, Grant Heslov and Teddy Schwarzman. It is the sixth film Clooney directed, following The Monuments Men. Matt Damon plays Gardner, Julianne Moore appears as Margaret and Rose, Noah Jupe plays Nicky, and Oscar Isaac plays insurance investigator Bud Cooper.

The production, backed by Paramount, Silver Pictures, Black Bear Pictures and Huahua Media, had a budget of 25 million US dollars and took about 13 million worldwide, so it did not recover its costs at the box office. Audience response was middling: on IMDb it holds 5.8 out of 10 from around 50,000 votes, and on TMDB it rates 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 1,850 votes. A film critics' rating of 4.9 out of 10 from 256 reviews places it below those audience scores. The film runs 105 minutes.
