The Monster Club is a British anthology horror comedy about a horror writer who has a close encounter with a vampire named Eramus. After the attack, Eramus invites the author to a club where vampires, werewolves and other creatures of the night gather. There, the vampire explains the rules of the monster world and entertains his guest with three stories, with musical numbers performed at the club between them.
Roy Ward Baker directed the film, the tenth entry in the chronological list of his directing work that began with The Snows of Kilimanjaro in 1952 and includes earlier horror titles such as The Vampire Lovers, Asylum and The Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires. Edward Abraham and Valerie Abraham wrote the screenplay, and Milton Subotsky produced for Amicus Productions. Vincent Price plays Eramus and John Carradine plays the writer R. Chetwynd-Hayes, with Donald Pleasence, Stuart Whitman, Britt Ekland and Richard Johnson among the credited cast of thirty.
The film was released on 11 April 1981 and runs 98 minutes. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.9 from around 5,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.8 from 126 votes, indicating a modest but persistent following rather than broad acclaim.
